The Department of Environment and Science (DES) is Queensland's leader in sustainability, integrating environmental stewardship, heritage protection, national park management, scientific innovation, and multicultural affairs to help achieve government objectives for a better Queensland.
Within DES, the Science Development and Office of the Queensland Chief Scientist branch spearheads Queensland's scientific initiatives. This branch takes the lead in formulating a comprehensive science strategy for the Government, ensuring the application of scientific knowledge for a sustainable economic future. Actively supporting the development of Queensland’s science sector, DES fosters innovation and growth in scientific endeavors, aligning with the evolving needs of the state and Queenslanders.
