Do you want to make a tangible impact today and tomorrow while enjoying flexible hours, hybrid working and the opportunity to travel?

Here’s your opportunity to protect our state’s natural assets while building your career with a team that’s united by service and purpose.

Biosecurity Queensland is looking for Senior Executive Officers to join their Regional Biosecurity teams.

Join a team that’s at the forefront of innovation and leadership to preserve and protect Queensland’s biodiversity. Working with the Regional Biosecurity Lead, you’ll play a key role in supporting the region’s efforts to prevent, respond to and recover from pests and diseases which threaten agricultural, environment and human health.

In this newly created role, you will: foster key stakeholder relationships; undertake research and critical analysis; review and develop policy; provide advice and prepare high-quality reports, briefings and correspondence.

About the role
As our Regional Biosecurity Senior Executive Officer (Central), you will:
  • Provide strategic support to the Regional Biosecurity Lead (Central) and Biosecurity Leadership Team on key biosecurity initiatives and projects.
  • Develop, review and evaluate evidence-based policy and undertake confidential and comprehensive research and critical analysis that contributes to Biosecurity Queensland’s initiatives.
  • Prepare and provide high-quality and timely advice to senior departmental officers and key stakeholders.
  • Prepare high-quality written reports, briefs and correspondence for senior departmental officers, ensuring quality, relevance and alignment with government policy and directions.
  • Provide strategic thinking and professional judgement on all deliverables, ensuring they meet quality standards, and develop and implement strategies for the monitoring and evaluation of initiatives.
  • Initiate, maintain and enhance effective relationships with key internal and external partners, promoting effective communication channels including feedback mechanisms and expectations.
As the position may involve participation in emergency responses, the successful candidate may be required to undergo training to apply their everyday work capabilities within a disaster or biosecurity response environment.

If protecting Queensland's economy, environment and lifestyle through collaborative, future-focused biosecurity is a purpose you want to get behind, apply now!
