As the sole finance professional, you’ll be the driving force behind the agency’s financial reporting. This is more than month-end close—you’ll be enabling a statutory body to operate independently, bringing best-practice accounting into a fresh, agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of financial statements in compliance with AASB and whole-of-government requirements
- Manage the integrity of the general ledger and perform complex reconciliations
- Prepare budget submissions and monthly management reports
- Complete month-end processes and forecasting tasks
- Liaise with auditors and prepare audit-ready workpapers
- Coordinate GST and FBT returns and ensure compliance with taxation obligations
- Handle Tridata reporting, including payments and claims for leave schemes
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders
- Proven experience preparing financial statements and performing high-level reconciliations
- Solid understanding of accounting standards (AASB) and government reporting
- Strong attention to detail and analytical capability
- Ability to work autonomously in a sole finance role
- Proficiency in Excel(intermediate to advanced)
- Exposure to SAP, Technology One, and Tridata preferred
- Prior Queensland Government experience (highly desirable)
- Highly desirable: CPA or CA qualification
- Candidates with significant hands-on experience in financial and management accounting
