About the Opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced Financial Planning & Analysis Manager
to lead a dual-focused budgeting function across internal and external portfolios. This is a 6-month contract with the potential for extension. Based in Brisbane’s CBD with a flexible hybrid model, this role is ideal for a capable finance leader ready to step into a challenging but rewarding environment undergoing transformation.
You'll lead financial strategy, foster team cohesion, and support a shift from reactive to forward-thinking financial planning—directly shaping how government investment decisions are made.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 7 finance professionals across internal and external budget portfolios
- Manage all aspects of financial planning, analysis, and reporting
- Lead the external budget submission process
- Deliver clear and strategic internal budget forecasts, translating technical data into actionable insights
- Support organisational transformation through leadership, accountability, and collaboration
- Work closely with consultants and internal leaders to build a high-performance, inclusive team culture
- Drive continuous improvement of financial reporting systems and tools
- Represent the team in key budget negotiations and leadership forums
Skills & Experience Required
- Demonstrated experience in a senior financial planning or government budget role (AO8 or above)
- Strong working knowledge of Treasury processes and funding submissions
- Proficiency in Power BI, SAP S/4HANA, and advanced Excel modelling
- Proven ability to lead teams through change with empathy and accountability
- Commercial and strategic acumen to evaluate funding and investment implications
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong preference for candidates with a leadership style that supports team diversity and innovation
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, or economics
- CPA or CA qualified (highly regarded)
