In this role, you will provide specialist technical leadership and practical input to support the Power Platform team in maturing Copilot Studio and AI delivery capabilities within the Department of Transport and Main Roads, complementing existing platform ownership, governance, and environment strategy.
Responsibilities and duties include:
- Support the maturation of the “supply side” of Copilot Studio and AI delivery within Power Platform, including delivery pathways (internal, vendor, hybrid), reuse models, support arrangements, and engagement patterns with business areas
- Act as the Copilot Studio Technical SME embedded within the Power Platform team, providing hands-on expertise across the design, build, and implementation of agent solutions where required
- Contribute to establishing and operationalising Copilot Studio agent delivery as a standard Power Platform capability, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, reusable, and aligned with TMR delivery practices.
- Provide hands-on expertise in Copilot Studio, including conversation design, prompt engineering, orchestration, and AI-driven solution patterns
- Contribute to the development of reusable patterns, standards, and reference architectures for AI agent delivery via the Power Platform CoE
- Support the Power Platform team in managing risks, issues, dependencies, and priorities, with a focus on AI-specific considerations such as data exposure, hallucination, and compliance
- Work closely with Architects, Security, and governance stakeholders to ensure solutions align with IS18 / ISMS requirements, data classification standards, and identity and access management controls
- Advise on Copilot Studio governance and guardrails, including data access controls, knowledge source management, responsible AI practices, and monitoring and audit integration, aligned to existing platform governance frameworks
- Support testing, deployment, and transition to BAU support, ensuring solutions are fully supportable within the Power Platform operating model
- Provide technical assurance and quality oversight of vendor-delivered Copilot Studio solutions, ensuring alignment with established patterns, standards, and governance
- Uplift capability across the Power Platform team through coaching and mentoring, including Copilot Studio development, prompt engineering, AI design patterns, and monitoring and optimisation of agent behaviour
If you are right for this role, you will likely bring a combination of the below:
- Previous experience in a Technical Lead, Solution Architect, or SME role in Copilot Studio
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio Agent and Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse) and Dynamics 365
- Experience with Azure AI services, including Microsoft AI Foundry (previously Azure AI Studio)
- Strong experience in enterprise Copilot Studio agent delivery, conversational design, and prompt engineering
- Demonstrated experience guiding organisations through the maturity evolution of AI and Copilot Studio capabilities within Power Platform, including establishing service models, governance frameworks, and scalable delivery practices
- Experience transitioning AI solutions from early PoCs to governed, production-ready enterprise service offerings
- Integration expertise across REST APIs, connectors, and enterprise systems
- Security and compliance experience aligned to IS18 / ISMS and data classification frameworks
- DevOps and ALM practices for Copilot Studio solutions
- Proven ability to mentor, coach, and uplift internal capability
- Experience providing technical assurance of vendor-delivered solutions
- Experience in defining delivery and support models across internal and vendor-based delivery
What this role offers
- Initial contract to 20 January 2027, with potential extension
- Up to $120 per Hour + Superannuation (negotiable)
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Carseldine office based with flexible work arrangements (50% office / 50% home over a fortnight)
- On-site parking available at Carseldine office
- Close to Carseldine train station if choosing public transport
- Partnering with specialised Queensland Government recruitment consultants for the duration of your assignment
- Weekly pay cycles with no payroll fees/deductions
- Ability to contract as Pty Ltd (conditions apply)
