Your new role
In this role, you will join a Health, Safety and Wellbeing team attached to the National Fire Ant Eradication Program.
Your role will include:
- Providing expert knowledge and advice to a range of key stakeholders, including the NFAEP management team regarding strategic and operational HSW risk matters
- Working collaboratively with the Corporate HSW team in the development and implementation of health, safety and wellbeing strategies and initiatives for the NFAEP
- Assisting to lead, manage and supervise a small team
- Conducting HSW audits and inspections at depots and in the field of operation
- Developing HSW systems, processes and reporting functions to identify trends and develop strategies and programs to improve performance
- Developing and implementing HSW programs that align with the Department's safety management system to support effective practices, including delivery of initiatives to effectively identify hazards, mitigate risks and improve overall system performance
- Leading the development and implementation of organisational change strategies to embed a culture of Zero Harm and improve the overall HSW performance at facilities and in the field
- Supporting Managers, Trained Safety Advisors and Health & Safety Representatives in “Best Practice” Safety process and improving the organisational culture
What you’ll need to succeed
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Current Class C Driver’s License
- Ability to pass a Criminal History Check
Previous experience in a similar role within Queensland Government or Public Sector would be beneficial, but not essential.
What’s in it for you
- Hourly rate of $87.02 + Superannuation
- 36.25 hours per week roster (Monday - Friday)
- Initial 6-month contract with potential extension
- Weekly pay cycle
