We are seeking a highly skilled  Senior Civil Designer (PO6)  to join a major QLD State Government Department on the Sunshine Coast to support the planning and design of complex road and civil infrastructure projects.

About this role
In this role you, reporting to the Principal Advisor (Design) the Senior Designer will work autonomously across civil design activities while collaborating with other designers, engineers and project stakeholders.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering civil design solutions that meet project objectives, technical standards and stakeholder requirements.
  
Key responsibilities    

  • Undertake civil design and drafting using 12D and AutoCAD for road and transport infrastructure projects.
  • Develop, prepare and quantify transport infrastructure design models across strategic planning, concept, development and implementation phases.
  • Manage key components of the planning and design process to support successful project delivery within agreed time, cost, quality and stakeholder expectations.
  • Investigate, analyse and conceptualise potential design options to determine practical and effective solutions.
  • Apply appropriate design processes and methodologies based on individual project requirements and delivery strategies.
  • Ensure designs are developed in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, standards, specifications and technical guidelines.
  • Assist with the technical review of transport infrastructure design drawings, models and documentation prepared by external design consultancies.
  • Identify potential design risks, evaluate possible solutions and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute technical knowledge and experience to support the development and capability of other members of the design team.
About you
To be successful, you will be able to demonstrate:
  • Previous experience in a Senior Designer or Design Management positions.
  • Previous experience in delivering civil designs appropriate for construction (intersections, widening, highways, etc)
  • Previous experience in developing and quantifying transport infrastructure design models.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (min 2 year Dublin Accord accredited or recognised equivalent)
  • Extensive experience using and experience in using 12D and AutoCAD software.
  • Make informed technical decisions and exercise sound judgement regarding when issues require escalation.
  • Ability to remain focused and effective in environments involving competing priorities, ambiguity and change, whilst making considered, ethical and well-informed decisions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with designers, engineers, project managers, consultants and other stakeholders.
  • Hold a current White Card (or able to obtain)
Previous experience in a similar role within Government or similar complex organisation would be highly beneficial. Additional experience across large Capital Works infrastructure projects (hospitals, schools, stadiums etc) will be highly desirable.
