About the Opportunity

Our government client is seeking an experienced AO5  Senior Finance Officer to support a cost recovery review project within the finance team. This role will play a vital part in enhancing financial performance and ensuring compliance through the delivery of core finance functions and project insights.

About the Role

You will support the agency’s core finance operations and contribute to strategic cost recovery efforts. This includes month-end reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, financial analysis, and project support. Reporting to the senior finance lead, you will also assist with stakeholder engagement, compliance monitoring, and business case preparation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monthly reporting and variance commentary
  • Day-to-day finance: including month-end and year-end processing
  • Prepare/ review journals, account reconciliations, and financial reports
  • Assist with development of the annual budget and forecast phasing
  • Provide accurate, and actionable financial insights to stakeholders
  • Support ad-hoc financial analysis and project deliverables
  • Contribute to the preparation of business cases and briefing notes
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Ensure excellent service delivery

Skills & Experience Required
  • Demonstrated management accounting experience i
  • Strong understanding of month-end processes, budgeting, and reconciliations
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Understanding of Queensland Government financial policy and procedures is desirable

Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification in accounting or finance is preferred
  • CPA or CA status is highly regarded

Additional Requirements
  • Must pass a criminal history check prior to appointment
