Kingston Human Capital are partnering with a QLD Government department to appoint a Senior Management Accountant (AO6) to join its Budget and Financial Management team.

This is a strong opportunity to step into a busy and collaborative finance team where your analysis and business partnering skills will be highly valued.

YOUR NEW ROLE
In this role, you’ll provide high-quality financial management advice, reporting and analysis to support informed decision-making and strong financial governance across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver customer-focused financial management advice, reporting and analysis.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and identify financial risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc financial reports, reconciliations, forecasts and briefing materials.
  • Support annual budget development and budget revision processes.
  • Ensure budget data is accurately reflected and reconciled within financial systems.
  • Contribute to the review and improvement of financial management policies, systems and procedures.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders including senior management and central agencies.
  • Assist with preparation of State Budget documentation, including Service Delivery Statements, Estimates briefs and Annual Report inputs.
  • Participate in finance projects and provide analytical support across the business.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Proven experience in a Management Accountant role, or similar
  • Proven capability across budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
HIGHLY DESIREABLE
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or Business.
  • CPA, CA or IPA membership
  • Experience working within QLD Government financial frameworks
  • Experience working with SAP
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
  • Initial contract until February 2026, with potential extension
  • Mid-September start
  • $80 - $85 per Hour + Superannuation
  • 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Brisbane CBD office
