About QMF
The Queensland Government established the Queensland Music Festival (QMF) in 1999, inspired by an ambitious vision of how a state-wide biennial music festival might help address the geographical and social disadvantage experienced by our regional and remote populations. Over its 20-year history, QMF has delivered events to over 1 million people across over 100 towns and cities across Queensland.
These events have embodied QMF’s unique and ambitious artistic programming model, bringing leading artists and communities together to create music experiences that celebrate the cultural identity of Queensland’s people and places.
QMF is currently undergoing a significant transformation of the way it partners with communities, artists and other organisations to stage music events that create measurable social and economic value for Queensland’s cities and towns.

Our Mission and Vision
QMF’s activities from 2020 will be focused in relation to the following statements:
Our Purpose – To evolve Queensland’s places, and connect them to the world
Our Mission – To engage our cities, towns and remote places in a movement to make Queensland the music experience capital of Australia
Our Vision – By 2030, Queensland will be internationally recognised for its music experiences that are an authentic reflection of place
