You will report to the Principal Finance Officer and work closely with an AO6 Senior Financial Accountant, contributing to both financial and management accounting functions within a stable and collaborative team environment.
Key responsibilities and deliverables
- Manage the end-of-month process, including preparation and posting of accrual journals
- Prepare monthly financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet and cashflow)
- Analyse financial results and investigate variances, including variance analysis and commentary
- Review monthly reconciliations
- Prepare quarterly FRAMES whole of government report to Treasury
- Extract and analyse financial data using Excel (e.g. VLOOKUP, SUMIF functions)
- Review and oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable outputs, ensuring accuracy of transactions
- Check and approve payment runs, Accounts Receivable invoices, journal postings, and reconciliations
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data
- Provide guidance and support to internal clients as required in relation to financial matters.
- Maintain compliance with government financial policies and procedure
- Reporting to a hands-on and supportive Principal Finance Officer with extensive government experience
- This role will review Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable work
- Demonstrated experience in end-of-month processes and financial reporting
- Strong analytical capability, including variance analysis and financial commentary
- Proven experience reviewing transactional finance functions (AP/AR)
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, SUMIF)
- Ability to extract and analyse financial data to support decision-making
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
- Excellent communication skills and ability to support internal stakeholders
- Experience with TechnologyOne (required)
- Exposure to FRAMES or TriData (beneficial and not required)
- Background in banking or loan-related environments (beneficial and not required)
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance or similar (desirable)
