Kingston Human Capital are supporting a major QLD State Government Department with the appointment of Principal Advisor (Finance) at AO7 level. This role will be based in Buderim, for an initial 12-month assignment.

About the role   
In this role, you will join the Integrated Program Team for The Wave Stage 3 and MRI Upgrade Projects, managing and reporting on Program and Project financial performance.
  
The Wave Stage 3 (Metro) and the Mooloolah River Interchange (MRI) Upgrade projects will deliver transformational infrastructure and public transport services to support the delivery of the 2032 Olympic Games. Both projects are delivered from within the Program Delivery and Operations division in the North Coast Region of TMR.
  
The Wave was announced as part of the 2032 Delivery Plan and includes a heavy passenger rail line from Beerwah to Birtinya (Stages 1 and 2), connecting with Stage 3, a high-frequency, high-capacity metro-style service to the Sunshine Coast Airport via Mountain Creek and the Maroochydore Central Business District. The MRI Upgrade is critical to facilitate the delivery of the metro service.
  
Key responsibilities and deliverables
  • Develop and produce project financial reports to meet a variety of internal and external stakeholder reporting requirements. This includes the development of financial reporting tools and dashboards.
  • Provide financial analysis including explanations for variances, trends and financial positions to senior management and governance groups.
  • Work with North Coast Region Finance Team to manage the monthly cash flow process and reporting.
  • Work within SAP, Oracle Primavera Unifier (3PCM) and other financial / contract management tools to ensure that financial records are reconciled and meet TMR policies and requirements.
  • Work productively with Program and Project team members, and internal and external stakeholders, to deliver financial analysis and reports.
  • Participate as an active senior member of the Project Controls team, supporting the successful delivery of the Program and Project, through accurate and timely reporting.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Demonstrated experience in accounting and financial management, including budgeting, monitoring and reporting.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft software, including PowerBI to build financial dashboards.
  • Proven leadership track record within financial roles.
  • High standards of practice in upholding frameworks, policies and procedures.
  • Strong dedication to continuous improvement initiatives and adaptable to change with a proactive approach.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Criminal History Check prior to commencement in the role
Desirable experience and qualifications
  • Experience with SAP
  • Similar experience within Government, Public Sector or Government Owned Corporations
  • Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) and/or tertiary qualifications (Bachelor degree or higher) in finance, accounting or business administration.
What this role offers you

  • $88.30 - $94.60 per Hour + Superannuation
  • 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday (no weekends or public holidays)
