About the opportunity 
This is a key opportunity to work alongside a Deputy Director-General within a large Queensland Government department to lead effective divisional governance, performance, and resource management by delivering accurate analysis, reporting and business insights. Working closely with corporate finance, HR and program areas, the position ensures informed decision-making, governance, and coordinated delivery across diverse programs and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level financial, business and HR advice to the DDG to support divisional operations, planning and governance.
  • Supports others to embrace and operate within legislative and policy frameworks that guide everyday practice.
  • Prepare clear, timely and evidence-based advice reports to inform executive decision-making.
  • Collaborate with divisional finance to coordinate financial reporting, budget monitoring and performance insights required by the DDG.
  • Develop and maintain analytical models and Power BI dashboards to support decision-making.
  • Undertake financial tasks such as accruals, journals, grants oversight and financial analysis when required.
  • Support HR matters, including workforce planning and performance management, where required.
  • Ensure effective coordination, communication and workflow within the DDG's office and across the division.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience providing financial, analytical and business support in a  Queensland Government or large public sector environment.
  • Demonstrated strong governance  capability
  • Skilled in  financial reporting, analysis and modelling, with proficiency in  Power BI.
  • Strong working knowledge of  SAP  (experience with SAP S/4HANA highly regarded).
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare  clear, evidence-based advice and reports  for senior executives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to support  HR and business matters  sensitively and effectively.
