  • Lead a high-performing financial management and assurance team of around 20 staff
About the Opportunity
Join this State Government Department as the Director, Financial Management & Assurance -  a senior leadership role supporting business areas to ensure strong financial management, internal controls and governance across the organisation.

You’ll provide strategic financial advice to executives, lead key budget and reporting processes, oversee capital works and asset programs, and guide a multidisciplinary finance team. The role also contributes to major departmental transformation initiatives, including supporting S/4 HANA as a data steward.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level financial, resource and asset management advice to senior executives.
  • Lead State Budget Papers, CBRC submissions and ministerial briefs.
  • Oversee capital works and asset programs to ensure alignment with strategic needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial governance, assurance and reporting obligations.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of ~20 staff (4 direct reports).
  • Deliver key budget outputs, including 2025–26 CBRC and February Forward Estimates.
  • Support S/4 HANA data stewardship and contribute to the whole-of-department transformation.
What You’ll Need
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications plus CPA/CA/MIPA membership.
  • Extensive senior finance leadership experience in complex environments.
  • Strong background in capital works and asset program oversight.
  • Advanced stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent analytical and written communication skills.
  • Queensland Government or large public sector experience (desirable).
  • Exposure to SAP S/4 HANA or major ERP transformations (advantageous but not required).
