About the Opportunity
A state government client is seeking a highly capable Financial Accountant to support a critical financial reporting uplift. This contract role focuses on rebuilding the financial statement model, strengthening asset accounting, and ensuring reporting frameworks are fit-for-purpose during a period of system transition.

  • 6 month, full-time contract with potential extension.

  • Opportunity to work on a major financial reporting rebuild and system transition.
Your New Role
You’ll play a hands-on role in financial statement preparation, asset accounting, and technical advisory work. You’ll also support the transition of financial data between the SAP ECC6 and SAP S/4HANA platforms, ensuring that reporting remains accurate and compliant throughout.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Rebuild and maintain the financial statement model for annual reporting.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, notes, and disclosures.
  • Support asset accounting activities, including revaluations and material transactions.
  • Monitor general ledger integrity and financial data accuracy.
  • Provide high-level technical advice on accounting standards, reporting, and tax matters.
  • Research and interpret new and emerging accounting standards and legislation.
  • Prepare technical submissions and guidance for senior stakeholders.
  • Support the transition from SAP ECC6 to SAP S/4HANA.
  • Undertake additional financial accounting tasks as required.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • Strong experience in preparing and reviewing statutory financial statements.
  • High attention to detail with strong presentation and documentation skills.
  • Proven ability to design and rebuild financial statement models.
  • Advanced skills in integrating SAP data into Excel and Word-based reporting outputs.
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Queensland Government Financial Reporting Requirements
  • Confidence in providing technical advice to senior stakeholders.
Highly Regarded:
  • CPA or CA qualification.
  • Experience supporting SAP system transitions.
