About the Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a well-established budgeting and reporting team within a Queensland State Government department that makes a meaningful contribution to the lives of Queenslanders.


About the Position
This role is not transactional. It is suited to someone who values accuracy, understands budget impacts beyond the income statement, and can confidently analyse and question numbers before deadlines.

You’ll be supporting critical budget milestones in a complex government environment, working alongside long-tenured Management Accountants with deep departmental and whole-of-government knowledge.

  • Competitive salary: $69.21 – $75.09 per hour + super
  • Initial contract through April 2026, with possible extension to 31 January 2027
  • Full-time on site initially, with hybrid WFH available after 3 months
  • Brisbane CBD location
Your Contributions:
  • Validate data integrity prior to submission into budget and reporting systems
  • Ensure consistency between source data, working papers, and system outputs
  • Apply quality checks to financial data to ensure it is complete, accurate, and defensible
  • Support the preparation of audit-ready reconciliations and schedules
  • Ensure budget inputs align with approved funding decisions and adjustment schedules
  • Identify potential downstream impacts of errors on budget papers, estimates and reporting
What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • Excel skills (required) - pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, large dataset reconciliation.
  • Proven ability to analyse data, identify issues, and validate accuracy.
  • Excels working in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities.
  • Experience supporting budgeting and reporting in large, complex organisations.
Highly Regarded:
  • Queensland Government budget exposure
  • SAP experience (reporting and basic journals)
  • Tridata exposure (advantage, not essential)
