In this role, you will play a critical role in supporting the establishment and ongoing operations of the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) for the Queensland Procurement Policy (QPP) 2026 Implementation Portfolio.
You will focus on ensuring the effective delivery of programs and projects by providing governance, reporting and analytical support, as well as driving the adoption of standardised tools, templates and processes.
What you will be doing
- Support the effective delivery and oversight of QPP 2026 Implementation Portfolio by developing and implementing the PMO Governance Framework, Performance Monitoring, Tracking and Reporting Framework, Risk Management Framework and Benefits Realisation Framework
- Support the development and maintenance of the 3-Year Portfolio Roadmap, ensuring alignment with QPP 2026 strategic objectives.
- Develop and implement standardised tools and templates for the PMO including project initiation, risk management, reporting, gate reviews and benefits realisation.
- Develop and maintain the centralised Risk and Issues Register for the Portfolio, ensuring risks and issues are identified, tracked and escalated as required.
- Support the development and implementation of the Benefits Management Framework and Initial Benefits Realisation Plan
- Configure and maintain Microsoft Project Online by adding a Portfolio Setup including all programs and projects
- Develop Power BI dashboards to enable real-time portfolio performance tracking.
- Provide training and support to program and project teams in the use of standardised tools and templates, risk management, reporting and benefits realisation.
- Monitor and track the implementation of the Gate Review Process across all programs and projects, ensuring alignment with the approved framework.
- Lead and develop Portfolio Status Reports, highlighting progress, risks, issues, key decisions and project management analysis and recommendations for the Portfolio Sponsor.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of PMO processes, tools and templates based on lessons learned and stakeholder feedback
- Demonstrated experience in a PMO or Project/Portfolio management role, preferably within a government or public sector environment.
- Proven track record of supporting governance, reporting and risk management activities in a portfolio or program environment.
- Experience in supporting the implementation of project management tools and processes, including configuration and training.
- Ability to identify risks, issues, and dependencies and recommend practical solutions.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, generate insights and produce high-quality reports.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables within tight deadlines.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
- Proficiency in project and portfolio management tools, particularly MS Project Online, Power BI and other Microsoft Office 365 tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- Knowledge of project management methodologies (eg PRINCE2, Agile, MSP) and portfolio management frameworks (eg P3O)
- Experience in developing and maintaining dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI.
What’s in it for You
- Contract through to April 2026, with potential extension

- Hourly rate of $79.17 (AO6.1) to $103.19 (AO8.4) + Superannuation (dependant on relevant experience)
- 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Start date Monday 12 January (pending references and background checks)
- Flexible working arrangements – 3 office / 2 home
- Experience in critical role for major State Government department
