About the Opportunity
This opportunity is with a state government organisation that plays a vital role in supporting Queenslanders. You will join an experienced, well-functioning finance team with strong system knowledge and established processes.

Your New Role
As the AO7 Principal Finance Officer,  you will take the lead on government financial reporting, statutory obligations and budget development.

Your Key Contributions
  • Lead statutory accounting and financial management activities, including responsibility for financial statements and ensuring compliance with financial policies and reporting requirements.
  • Deliver high-quality recurring and ad hoc financial reporting to support executive decision-making, including analysis and commentary.
  • Provide strategic advice on complex financial and accounting matters, identifying practical solutions aligned to organisational objectives.
  • Work closely with senior leaders and stakeholders to support financial planning, budget development and business priorities.
  • Lead financial performance monitoring across budgets and forecasts, providing clear insights into trends, risks and financial outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across financial processes, systems and reporting practices.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar position within the State Government (essential)
  • Strong reporting and statutory accounting experience 
  • Hands-on experience using FinanceOne / TechnologyOne (essential)
  • Intermediate Excel skills with confidence in handling financial data
  • Experience with Power BI and Tridata (beneficial and not required)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with executives and stakeholders under tight timeframes
