Kingston Human Capital are supporting this major QLD State Government Department with the appointment of two Release Coordinators. These roles will be based in Carseldine (Brisbane Northern Suburbs), for an initial 12-month assignment, with potential extensions.

About the role
As Release Coordinator, you will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, coordination and execution of releases across complex project or program environments.

You will ensure that deployments, environment readiness and release activities are delivered in a controlled, repeatable manner, with minimal disruption to business operations.

Working closely with project, technical, business and vendor stakeholders, you will manage integrated release schedules, oversee environment availability and readiness, and ensure that all governance, quality and operational requirements are met prior to deployment.

You will play a key part in managing risks, resolving issues, and supporting successful transition into business-as-usual operations.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities include:
  • Develop and maintain integrated release schedules aligned with project timelines, delivery cycles and business constraints.
  • Coordinate release scope, sequencing, dependencies, freeze periods and go/no-go decision points.
  • Ensure all release activities are planned and executed in a structured and controlled manner.
  • Coordinate environment usage across Development, SIT, UAT, Pre-Production and Production environments.
  • Manage environment bookings, availability, configuration, access and data refresh activities.
  • Facilitate and track environment readiness, including entry/exit criteria and prerequisite validation.
  • Coordinate deployment activities including runbooks, cutover plans, rollback strategies and release communications.
  • Support execution of deployments (including after-hours where required) and coordinate issue resolution during stabilisation.
  • Ensure smooth transition to operational support teams post-deployment.
  • Coordinate change records and approvals in line with organisational processes.
  • Support governance activities such as CAB submissions, risk and impact assessments, and implementation readiness approvals.
  • Coordinate completion of assurance activities including testing evidence, defect thresholds, security reviews and operational readiness checks.
  • Maintain traceability and auditability of release and deployment activities.
  • Identify, assess and manage risks, issues and cross-team dependencies.
  • Proactively manage scheduling conflicts, resource constraints and competing priorities.
  • Escalate critical risks and issues appropriately and propose mitigation strategies.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating releases, deployments or environment management activities in a large, complex organisation or program environment.
  • Strong planning, scheduling and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent activities.
  • Experience managing dependencies, risks and stakeholder communications across cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of change control and service management practices (eg ITIL), including governance and approval processes.
  • Experience supporting testing cycles (eg SIT/UAT), including environment readiness, entry/exit criteria and defect management.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and modern release practices, including CI/CD pipelines (where applicable).
  • Strong documentation skills, including development of runbooks, cutover plans, readiness checklists and status reports.
  • Proven ability to problem-solve, make sound decisions under pressure and drive outcomes in time-constrained environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Highly desirable experience, in addition to the above:
  • Experience working in a regulated or government environment.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide system or platform implementations.
  • Experience working across multiple environments with formal release governance frameworks.
