Our state Government client is looking for a high-performing and dedicated finance professional to join their team!
 
What's in it for you?
  • Length of the contract:  6 months with possible extension
  • Competitive hourly rate:  $79 to $84 hourly + super

  • Hours: 36.25 hours per week
About the Opportunity: A prominent government organisation is seeking a skilled Management Accountant in Budgeting to join their finance team.
 
This critical role involves contributing to budget management, including forecasting, reporting, and process improvements. The ideal candidate will manage budget functions, support financial forecasting, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and targets, identifying financial risks and providing recommendations to mitigate issues
  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc financial reports, reconciliations, budget forecasts, briefing notes, presentations and correspondence relating to complex budgeting and financial management matters
  • Develop, implement and maintain annual budgets and forward estimates within the department’s budget management systems
  • Support the preparation of key State Budget deliverables, including:
    • Service Delivery Statements
    • Annual Reports
    • Mid-Year Fiscal and Economic Review (MYFER)
    • Budget submissions
    • Ministerial and Estimates Committee briefing materials
  • Create and maintain budget holder reports, dashboards and financial analysis tools to support informed decision-making
  • Contribute to the development and review of financial management policies, procedures and frameworks to ensure compliance with government legislation, standards and guidelines
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by reviewing systems, processes and reporting practices
  • Partner closely with business units, senior management, Queensland Treasury and external stakeholders to deliver customer-focused financial advice and support
  • Assist with activity-based costing analysis and other ad hoc financial projects as required
