Two of our state government clients  are seeking a Senior Finance Advisor/Financial Accountat to strengthen its Financial Accounting and General Ledger capability.

You’ll join a collaborative Finance Reporting and General Ledger environment that values knowledge sharing, problem-solving and getting the fundamentals right. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys analysis, problem solving, and improving how financial data is managed and reported on.
  
What's in it for you?
  • Hourly rate of pay:$79.18 - $84.56 + Super
  • Engagement: Contract, Full time
  • Role One: ASAP until June 2026
    Role Two: Contract until August 2026
  • WFH: Office-based initially, then WFH flexibility
  • Team:  Strong, collaborative finance team with a knowledge-sharing culture.
Your New Role's K ey Responsibilities:
  • Support preparation of interim and 30 June financial statements 
  • Prepare and manage fortnightly, monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations, including payroll, and long service leave
  • Complete journals, manage clearing accounts and maintain registers in line with financial policies.
  • Monitor and review the general ledger through controlled reviews and reconciliation exercises.
  • Perform accrual sampling and investigate supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyse ledger issues, identify root causes and resolve or recommend solutions.
  • Review processes and controls to identify business improvement opportunities.
  • Build strong working relationships across finance teams, business units and external agencies.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • Strong experience in annaul statutory reporting and general ledger analysis.
  • Excellent reconciliation skills and solid understanding of debits, credits and GL structure.
  • High-level analytical ability, someone who investigates issues, not just processes transactions.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time well, and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excel & Systems:
  • SAP S/4HANA and Government experience is required.
  • Power BI experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • Tridata exposure is beneficial but not essential.
