Our State Government client is seeking a Seniof Finance Advisor to support its Financial Planning & Reporting team within a large, structured finance function. 

You’ll step into a well-established team environment and provide immediate support across budgeting, forecasting and reporting. This is a hands-on partnering role where your ability to work with senior stakeholders and deliver under pressure will be key.

Your New Role

As the Finance Advisor, you’ll support financial planning and reporting activities, working closely with business units to ensure accurate and timely financial outcomes. This role is less about building from scratch and more about refining, reviewing and keeping things on track.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly financial and performance reports with variance analysis.
  • Monitor expense recognition and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Review business performance and identify financial risks or issues.
  • Partner with business units to collect forecasts, end of month data and accruals.
  • Support the budget build process by refining and validating existing inputs.
  • Respond to ad hoc reporting requests, including fast-turn around queries.
  • Assist with estimates briefs and annual reporting inputs.
  • Support year-end processes and contribute to reporting deliverables.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • Strong experience in finance business partnering within a large organisation.
  • Confidence working with Executive Directors and senior stakeholders.
  • Proven capability across budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis.
  • Ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights clearly.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
  • State Government experience (highly regarded).
  • Exposure to estimates briefs or central agency reporting (beneficial).
Systems & Skills:
  • SAP S/4HANA or ECC6 (preferred)
  • Experience working with incomplete data and tight deadlines
