This role sits within the Major Projects team in a leading Queensland Government department. The team works across government, private sector and community stakeholders to deliver well-designed, sustainable environments across housing, health, education, transport and more.
As a Site Representative, you will support the delivery of complex capital works projects and work closely with the Principal’s Representative, Senior Project Manager and Executive Project Director across a range of customer portfolios.
You will act as the Principal’s primary on-site presence during construction, providing day-to-day oversight of contractor activities to ensure works are completed in accordance with contracts, specifications and required standards. You will play a critical role in monitoring quality, progress and compliance across all stages of delivery.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide full-time on-site supervision during the construction phase on behalf of the Principal’s Representative
- Act as the Principal’s Representative on-site for inspection of works in progress
- Ensure materials and workmanship meet drawings, specifications and approved documentation
- Monitor scope and quality of works to ensure compliance with contracts and authority requirements
- Manage audit, inspection and testing processes at Practical Completion, including defects and as-built documentation
- Manage site interactions with Managing Contractor site staff
- Monitor construction progress against the contract program and prepare reports for the Principal’s Representative
- Ensure environmental and health and safety controls align with management plans and legislation
- Assist the Audit Quantity Surveyor in assessing work completed for payment purposes
- Attend project meetings and provide advice on contractor performance, construction progress and time-related matters
- Extensive experience in large, complex building construction projects
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies and contract delivery models
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to engage confidently with contractors and consultants
- Ability to work autonomously and contribute to a collaborative project environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to monitor progress, identify risks and report on issues impacting delivery
- High level of professionalism with a commitment to ethical behavior and accountability
- Valid Open Driver License
