A leading Queensland Government department is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to support its Corporate Services Financial Reporting function.
  
This is a great opportunity to step into a high-performing finance team during a busy reporting period, where your technical accounting expertise will play a key role in ensuring compliance, strengthening controls, and delivering accurate financial reporting outcomes.

You’ll join a collaborative environment that values accuracy, continuous improvement, and strong stakeholder engagement across the department.

About Your Role:
  • Support the preparation of financial reports and consolidated financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and Queensland Government reporting requirements
  • Review financial reporting processes and internal controls, identifying risks and improvement opportunities
  • Investigate discrepancies and resolve financial reporting issues
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations and data integrity checks
  • Build strong working relationships across divisions, business units and external stakeholders
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
  • Proven experience in financial reporting and statutory compliance
  • Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Government experience is highly regarded (commercial candidates also encouraged to apply)
  • Ability to complete a criminal history check prior to commencement
Systems & Experience:
  • SAP ECC6 or S/4HANA experience highly desirable
  • Advanced Excel skills and exposure to financial reporting systems
